Flash News: HYT H2 Blue Titanium and White Gold and H2 Red Titanium and Platinum
By Thierry Ané on February 21, 2014
At Baselworld this March, HYT, the self-proclaimed Hydro Mechanical Horologists, will officially unveil two new renditions of the H2 model introduced last year in a limited series of 50 pieces in black DLC titanium with a fluorescent green liquid to indicate the hours.
As the names imply, the 48.80 mm titanium case of the H2 watch will now include sections of white gold or platinum depending on the version. The other important aesthetic change is the colour of the liquid in the tube that circles the dial: blue has been paired with the white gold and a bright red showcases the platinum version. The tip of the retrograde minutes hand of each model also features this blue or red colour. Blue or red again can be found under the hollowed letters of the function indicator (time setting “H”, neutral “N” or winding “R”) at 3 o’clock. The dial layout is similar to the original H2 model but the movement received a silver treatment this time.
The H2 calibre developed in collaboration with Renaud & Papi is unchanged though. It retains its futuristic look with the two pistons in a “V” configuration and its escapement suspended under a titanium bridge at 12 o’clock.
Both models are presented on a black rubberized alligator strap with black stitches for the H2 Red Titanium and Platinum model and blue stitches on the H2 Blue Titanium and White Gold version. They are secured by a titanium pin buckle.
Twenty pieces of the H2 Blue Titanium and White Gold watch will be produced and just fourteen of the H2 Red Titanium and Platinum. The former will retail at $160,000 and the latter will be priced at $190,000. Naturally, we will come back on these two beautiful watches with live pictures during Baselworld.
