Watches: Ulysse Nardin Classico GUM 120th Anniversary

By Thierry Ané on November 13, 2013

This year marks the 120th anniversary of GUM, the main department store in many cities of the former Soviet Union. The most famous GUM is the large store in the Kitai-gorod part of Moscow facing Red Square that is currently a shopping mall.

Earlier this year, we presented on Watches of 2013 the anniversary model that the oldest Swiss watch manufacturer Vacheron Constantin created to celebrate the Main Department Store in Russia: the beautiful Patrimony Traditionnelle GUM 120th Anniversary in platinum.

It is now Ulysse Nardin’s turn to honour GUM with a new Classico model in rose gold. The 40 mm watch presents a very classic front with a black lacquered dial and a black alligator strap. One needs to turn the watch over to admire what makes this edition unique: the rose gold rotor is engraved with a picture of GUM’s largest store in Moscow.

Powered by the UN-13 self-winding movement, the watch displays the hours, minutes and seconds by central rose gold hands covered with luminous material. This timepiece also offers a date window at 3 o’clock. This very exclusive edition is strictly limited to 12 pieces and will only be available at GUM’s.
