Events & Industry News: IWC Schaffhausen Official Time Partner of BFI London Film Festival
By Thierry Ané on September 3, 2014
From October 8th to October 19th 2014, aficionados of the Seventh Art all over the world will have their attention turned to London where the 58th edition of the BFI London Film Festival will take place. Germany has the Berlin International Film Festival, Italy is proud of the Venice Film Festival and France host the renowned Cannes Film Festival but England, not to be outdone, also offers its world-class celebration of cinema in London with a festival that draws some of the most celebrated talent from the film industry. The BFI London Film Festival is also an excellent opportunity to preview some of greatest films of the year to come.
Swiss luxury brand IWC has a longstanding love affair with cinema and counts among its ambassadors more celebrities from the Seventh Art than any other watch brand. Be it the Dubai Film Festival or the Beijing Film Festival, the brand never hesitates to support the cinematographic industry. Sometimes, like with the Tribeca Film Festival, it is also an opportunity to create an exclusive dedicated limited edition. In 2014, both a stainless steel and a red gold version of the Spitfire Chronograph have put on the slate grey and burgundy colours that the Schaffhausen manufacture saves for the film festival founded in 2002 by Jane Rosenthal, Robert De Niro and Craig Hatkoff.
Keeping on the good sponsoring work, IWC has just announced that they will now also be the Official Time Partner of the BFI London Film Festival for a three-year period beginning with this 58th edition. No doubt that the Swiss brand is sensitive to the excellent work of this British organisation in preserving and restoring the most significant film collection in the world for the generations to come. The partnership is not meant to be a media coup but a true involvement in the coming years to promote, preserve and develop the amazing cinematographic industry. For us watch lovers, let’s hope that it will also include the unveiling of limited timepieces in tribute of this BFI London Film Festival…
