Watches: Hublot Aero Bang Visun Royal Yacht Club
By Thierry Ané on September 18, 2014
Last December Hublot announced a new strategic partnership with the Visun Royal Yacht Club, a renowned institution in Sanya, a pearl of the beautiful South China Sea. The watch manufacture with a maritime reference deeply rooted in its name has a longstanding tradition of prestigious collaborations with the world of sailing and institutions related to the sea.
The Real Club Nautico de Palma, the Yacht Club of Courchevel, the Monaco Yacht Club or the Clube de Regatas do Flamengo have already beautiful Hublot limited edition watches bearing their names and colours.
The brand also sponsored the famous Luna Rossa for the America’s Cup and is the partner of the Bol d’Or Mirabaud since last year. The Porto Cervo Marina and the Monaco Oceanographic Museum are also long time partners of the brand and have been the source of inspiration for many stunning watches.
Not surprisingly, Hublot now celebrates its association with the Visun Royal Yacht Club with the release of a very limited edition of 25 pieces. Part of the “Big Bang” collection, the Aero Bang Visun Royal Yacht Club features a nice 44 mm case entirely crafted in carbon fibre and the beautiful skeleton dial of the “Aero” series.
Mounted on a stunning black hornback alligator strap sewn onto rubber for comfort, this elegant timepiece is mainly black and brightened with subtle touches of blue: the stitches of the strap or the rubber insert in the crown with the brand’s logo on it. This refined colour is picked up on the dial for the luminescent material of the black nickel semi-skeletonized hands and hour markers. It is also used for the Visun Royal Yacht Club logo located at 9 o’clock on the black skeletonized dial.
The sapphire exhibition back lets you admire the HUB 4214 calibre and its hollowed out oscillating weight. This self-winding movement offers 42 hours of power reserve and features a chronograph function like most Hublot watches.
The Aero Bang Visun Royal Yacht Club is a truly beautiful addition to the brand’s long list of stunning timepieces and a refined tribute to this Chinese Yacht Club. I also love the fact that it is so exclusive. But unfortunately it also means that you have to hurry up and book your copy now if you want one: the watch will quickly sell out!
