Watches: H. Moser & Cie Endeavour Dual Time Special Edition

By Thierry Ané on September 17, 2014

I love it when an independent manufacture with the expertise and creativity of H. Moser & Cie becomes really productive and amazes us with one stunning creation after another!

Just 10 days ago, the readers of Watch Agora discovered the sensational Venturer Tourbillon Dual Time collectionWatches: H. Moser & Cie Venturer Tourbillon Dual Time Collection featuring the first-ever tourbillon escapement designed, developed and manufactured in-house by the brand. With its purity of lines, timeless classicism and attention to the smallest details, these high-end timepieces are surely among the most refined models unveiled this year.

After such a display of watchmaking know-how, most brands would have needed some time to revitalise themselves and find new inspiration for their next creations. The watchmaking team of H. Moser & Cie does not require such a break, though, and the brand is back in the limelight this week with a very special edition of just 20 pieces designed exclusively for Elegant, their retail partner in Hong Kong!

The Endeavour Dual Time Special Edition belongs to the new “Endeavour” line introduced earlier this year. This unusual collection for H. Moser & Cie successfully blends authentic watchmaking craftsmanship with modern yet always refined aesthetics. Platinum and gold are no longer the metal of choice for the case as these exceptional timepieces are crafted in Grade 5 titanium with a diamond-like-carbon surface treatment.

Quite provocatively, the brand decided to house a symbol of traditional Fine Watchmaking into this decidedly contemporary frame: a perpetual calendar. Two “Endeavour Perpetual Calendar” were actually presented this year: one with a black dial with rose gold accents limited to 100 pieces that I have discussed hereFlash News: H. Moser & Cie Moser Perpetual 1 Black Edition before Baselworld and another one with a gold fumé sunburst dial only produced in 10 units.

Under the impulse of its Hong Kongese partner, the brand is now offering this rejuvenating makeover to another of its legendary in-house movements, the self-winding HMC 346 calibre, and release the Endeavour Dual Time Special Edition in a limited run of 20 pieces.

The polished ebony case is mounted on an extremely refined carbon-coated black alligator strap secured by a black DLC titanium pin buckle with engraved Moser logo. The stealthy look of this watch is perfectly complemented by the splendid matte anthracite dial. Sandblasted and plated with ruthenium entirely by hand, it is the very first dial of this hue created by the brand and I must say that I am really impressed by its beauty.

Needless to say, this modern look does not come at the expense of fine craftsmanship. Everything here is flawless and the movement visible through the sapphire exhibition back displays the superlative level of finishing one expects from such an Haute Horlogerie model: perfectly bevelled and polished edges, Côtes de Genève decorations, Moser teeth for all wheels and pinions, everything up to the hollowed out 18-karat red gold oscillating weight with the brand’s coats-of-arm exude perfection!

The Endeavour Dual Time Special Edition is a true collectible model that should appeal to all the aficionados of Fine Watchmaking. I think it is also sufficiently different from the brand’s more classic-looking timepieces to be of interest for all H. Moser & Cie watch owners, even those with a Meridian Dual Time in their collection.
