Lately, H. Moser & Cie has unveiled some stunning watches with various levels of complication in their newly introduced “Endeavour” and “Venturer” collections. Indeed, not so long ago, we presented the magnificent Venturer Tourbillon Dual TimeWatches: H. Moser & Cie Endeavour Perpetual Calendar Black DLC Titanium and Gold Fumé Sunburst Dial presented this summer in a surprising combination: black DLC titanium case and gold fumé sunburst dial.

Despite the release of these absolutely mind-blowing timepieces that achieve the perfect balance of tradition and innovation, the appeal of the "simple" Venturer Small Seconds (presentation hereWatches: H. Moser & Cie Venturer Small Seconds Collection (+live pics)) remains unscathed: the piece is quite plainly drop-dead gorgeous! The extreme purity of its case lines works admirably with the simplicity of its uncluttered dial. Yet, everywhere, details reveal the extreme sophistication and refinement of this model with superlative finish.

From a technical viewpoint, this time-only model also has a lot to offer thanks to the 32 mm hand-wound HMC 327 calibre that beats inside. Entirely developed and produced in-house, it boasts a Moser balance wheel and an original Straumann hairspring with a stabilised Breguet overcoil that are also produced and assembled at the manufacture. The irresistible beauty of this top-of-the-range movement can be assessed through the sapphire crystal on the back of the watch as should always be the case with any timepiece of this standard.

So far, the watch was available in red gold only with three dial variations: silver sunburst, ardoise sunburst, and the brand’s iconic red gold fumé. This month, H. Moser & Cie adds a white gold version mounted on a black hand-stitched alligator strap that will be available exclusively at the Bucherer boutiques in Switzerland, Germany and Austria.

Although the introduction of a white gold alternative is already good news per se, this perfectionist brand did not restrict the customisation to this trivial feature: the new Venturer Small Seconds Bucherer Edition hides some other aesthetic surprises able to trigger a shopping spree among the brand’s aficionados and all the other watch connoisseurs alike.

The first such feature, and the most noticeable one, is of course the presence of a brand new colour for the fumé dial. It is executed in a midnight blue to die for, enhanced by the presence of a sunburst pattern to add an extra layer of detail. It retains the convex lines that beautifully follow those of the domed sapphire crystal for extra sense of depth. The colour is simply magnificent and ideal for a white gold case and black alligator strap. Somehow, it also reveals a younger side of the “Venturer Small Seconds” without losing an inch of its classicism.

You will then have to flip the watch over to discover the other exclusive feature of this elegant tribute to Bucherer. Using the expertise of sister company Precision Engineering AG, the brand’s exclusive balance wheel and hairspring I mentioned earlier have now undergone a highly technical deep-blue treatment creating an unprecedented sense of depth in the escapement as well as offering the perfect aesthetic complement to the new dial.

To conclude, one can only praise H. Moser & Cie for this outstanding addition to their flawless collections. In terms of classic-looking time-only watches, this is as good as it gets!
