Flash News: Rolex Yacht-Master 40 mm & 37 mm in Everose Gold
By Thierry Ané on March 18, 2015
The new watches presented by Rolex are always among the most anticipated novelties of Baselworld but not necessarily the most creative innovative models in terms of design. This year, though, the new Yacht-Master 40mm and Yacht-Master 37mm are truly surprising!
These “him & her” versions of the famous “Yacht-Master” model boast a luxurious case crafted in the brand’s Everose gold known for the durability and intensity of colour. It is paired with a bi-directional bezel featuring a black cerachrom insert and quite surprisingly with a black rubber strap secured by an Everose gold folding buckle. In Rolex’s parlance, it is nicknamed “Oysterflex”. For greater comfort, the inside of this high-tech rubber is equipped with a patented longitudinal cushion system that stabilises the watch on the wrist.
This new type of strap brings out the sporty side of the watch already emphasised by the contrast of black and rose gold that can also be found on the dial: the black background is enhanced by the presence of Everose gold hands and dot-shaped hour markers. As usual with the brands, they are both filled with white luminescent material emitting long-lasting blue glow for an optimal legibility in all conditions.
The brand rarely introduces something so different: we should therefore appreciate these newcomers! The presence of rubber will also decrease the price point for a gold sports watch. But this new element combined with the black ceramic and red gold makes us instantly think of some Omega models…
