Flash News: H. Moser & Cie Concept (+live pics)

By Thierry Ané on May 19, 2015

Unfortunately laptops are less reliable than Swiss mechanical watches and the Watch Agora team is experiencing the full extent of computer tribulations this week. As a result of our struggle with our digital companions, the frequency at which I post articles on the web site and insert new timepieces on Watches of 2015 has suffered a little. Everything should be back to normal next week though…

In the meantime, I would like to come back on a beautiful idea from H. Moser & Cie that has not received the attention it deserved on this web site: the Endeavour Centre Seconds Concept. The daring idea is to go against what all brands are working so hard to build: the reputation that can be conveyed by a name! Indeed, not only is the dial of this model stripped of any indices, it is also completely logo-free.

Without visible branding, the watch can only rely on its intrinsic qualities, both technical and aesthetic, to impress the watch connoisseurs. From a mechanical viewpoint, the Endeavour Centre Seconds Concept is powered by the hand-wound HMC 343 calibre. This time-only movement featuring a power reserve indicator on the back was entirely developed and manufactured in the brand’s workshops with the strictest respect for traditional watchmaking. The finish is also superlative and perfectly in line with what we have been used to from this high-end manufacture.

The 40.80 mm case with a thickness of 10.90 mm presents alternating polished and satin-finished parts and exhibits all the refinement H. Moser & Cie is renowned for. It is paired with the brand’s iconic fumé dial with sunburst pattern and elegant leaf-shaped hands. Everything up to the quality of the hand-stitched alligator strap and gold pin buckle is a statement of this brand’s dedication to excellence.

Initially, the Endeavour Centre Seconds Concept White Gold was supposed to be a piece unique but considering the enthusiastic response this model received, the brand decided to produce 4 new models, each available as a limited edition of 10 watches.

These additional references allow the brand to showcase their remarkable creativity in terms of design. Playing with the colour of their famous fumé dial (presented here in its traditional rhodium-plated colour or magnificent midnight blue hue) as well as with the colour of gold (pink or white), the designers prove the remarkable versatility of the “Endeavour Centre Seconds”.

Demanding watch enthusiasts will also be pleased to note that the brand did not restrict themselves to the conventional black or brown alligator straps: one white gold model uses rugged grey kudu leather while a pink gold version is mounted on buffed brown calfskin leather. Less common than alligator leather, these leather straps remain extremely understated and prove the brand’s flawless sense of style.

These four models are clearly for true watch enthusiasts with a deep knowledge of what Fine Watchmaking really is and the perspective to fully appreciate the beauty of H. Moser & Cie’s timepieces. Whatever rendition of prefer, purchasing a Endeavour Centre Seconds Concept White Gold will definitely prove your true appreciation of Haute Horlogerie as opposed to your devotion to brands and logos: a true aesthete’s choice!
