Watches: Oris Carlos Coste Limited Edition IV

By Thierry Ané on June 10, 2015

With the summer approaching, we all crave for white-sand beaches or beautiful infinity pools and more than ever our interest in watches shifts towards diver’s models that would be suitable for the holiday season. It is the perfect time for Oris to unveil another great member of the “Aquis” collection in tribute to world class free-diver and record-holder Carlos Coste.

The famous Depth Individual World Champion is a long-time brand ambassador and as its name implies, the Carlos Coste Limited Edition IV is already the fourth timepiece created by the brand to honour the accomplishments of this athlete who became the first human to achieve a Free Immersion of more than 100 meters in 2003 and has broken several free-diving world records since, including Constant Weight and Free Immersion.

Just like the other models created by this no-nonsense brand, the Carlos Coste Limited Edition IV is a highly functional diver’s watch. Crafted in lightweight and corrosion-resistant titanium this 46 mm timepiece is equipped with a manual helium valve and boasts a water resistance to a depth of 500 meters. The unidirectional rotating bezel presents a black ceramic inlay with a diving scale and the orange Super-LumiNova filling the hour markers and hands stands out on the matt black dial, making it legible in all conditions.

Powered by the 743 calibre based on Sellita’s SW 220-1, the Carlos Coste Limited Edition IV provides all the essential information, namely the time of the day with a small seconds counter and a date window. Its screw-in titanium case back is adorned with a blue medallion featuring Carlos Coste’s unique emblem. Like most of the brand’s divers models it is presented in a special waterproof case.

Two versions are available: either mounted on black rubber or featuring a titanium bracelet. Both models are secured with the brand’s safety anchor and quick adjustment sliding-sledge folding buckle and altogether the Carlos Coste Limited Edition IV is limited to 2,000 pieces. A great companion for your summer adventures…
