Watches: Omega Seamaster 300M Master Co-Axial Spectre Limited Edition
By Thierry Ané on September 1, 2015
The most famous British Secret Service agent has no time to rest on his laurels and jumps from one adventure to another: the forthcoming “Spectre” will be his 24th cinematographic appearance for the pleasure of his countless fans. After Casino Royale (2006), Quantum of Solace (2008) and Skyfall (2012), British actor Daniel Craig will once again personify this legendary character.
Recently, the actor has made a special visit to the heart of the Swiss watchmaking industry for the inauguration of the Omega factory in Villeret, Switzerland. The Swatch Group brand took this opportunity to unveil the new timepiece created in tribute to the Secret Service agent: the Seamaster 300M Master Co-Axial Spectre Limited Edition.
Limited to 7,007 pieces (!), the new watch builds upon the Seamaster 300M Master Co-Axial introduced in 2014 with customised features to make it worthy of James Bond. The 41 mm stainless steel model featuring a uni-directionally rotating bezel with black ceramic ring and liquidmetal 12-hour scale is now mounted on a neat 5-stripe black and grey NATO strap to give it a sportier look.
It is still powered by the extremely reliable Master Co-Axial 8400/8401 calibre. This time-only self-winding movement is encased in a rugged frame adapted to Bond’s activities and boasts a water resistance to a depth of 300 meters, making the watch wearable in all occasions.
The black dial plays the vintage card with the use of beige-coloured Super-LumiNova for the triangularly-shaped hour markers and “Seamaster” inscription. The same colour has been used for the luminescent material of the brand’s characteristic hours and minutes hands as well as for the lovely "lollipop" central seconds hand. The 007 gun logo has been engraved on the bracelet's strap holder and the closed case back is engraved with each watch serial number along with the "Spectre" film logo.
Available in selected boutiques from September, the new Seamaster Spectre has all the required qualities to please Bond’s fans and seasoned watch collectors alike. If, until now, only commemorative editions have been used to celebrate Omega's partnership with the James Bond franchise, this time around, they will be able to buy the model worn by 007...
