Flash news: Roger Dubuis Hommage Chronograph

By Thierry Ané on January 6, 2014

Last year, Roger Dubuis dedicated its SIHH presentation to the Excalibur world. This year, the brand will unveil a revamped collection of Hommage timepieces. We will have to wait two more weeks, though, to find out whether the brand will create a theme presentation around these beautiful watches. For now, we can only present the Hommage Chronograph model that will be officially introduced at Palexpo.

Along with the Sympathie, the Hommage line was created by Roger Dubuis himself back in 1995 and, even today, all the pieces of this collection feature his signature engraved on the case back. These round watches with a classic style are the perfect frame to showcase the manufacture’s watchmaking know-how.

With its self-winding RD680 calibre, the Hommage Chronograph surely has all the attributes to impress: this beautifully designed chronograph bears the Geneva Seal like all the watches produced by this manufacture and counts among the very few chronograph calibres powered by a micro-rotor. The brand has already used this stunning movement for instance in the La Monégasque Chronograph. The commonality ends there though: aesthetically, the watches could not be more different.

Crafted in pink gold, this 42 mm watch is paired with a brown alligator strap and a pink gold folding buckle. What makes it so special is the beauty of its dial: silver with a splendid sunray guilloché, it features huge Roman numerals appliqués in a perfect Roger Dubuis style.

It is truly a fine timepiece with a strong Roger Dubuis DNA, proving that the Excalibur is certainly not the only desirable collection produced by this manufacture. It is also a good “pre-SIHH teaser”: given the beauty of this watch, I can't wait to see the other superb timepieces that the brand will surely present in Geneva.
